CIVITA - CALABRIA- SOUTH ITALY
Civita is a village with Albanian traditions. The Albanian community is the
biggest community among the minority of ethnic groups residing in
Calabria. The people have kept their mother-tongue and all speak it correctly. The traditional
costumes worn by the Albanian women in Calabria are very colourful, and still conserve the splendour of their antique origins.
Here you can find the Albanian Ethnic Museum, the Greek Orthodox Church and , why not, "recharge
your batteries" with a walk through the village up to the Belvedere
from which you can admire the spectacular scenery of the rocky ravines
and the river Raganello. Near by lies Morano, one of the little towns of Calabria that lie
on the mountains, well known locally for it's historical centre that enjoys three ancient buildings
the Norman Castle, the Church of Maddalena and the Convent of Saint
Bernardino.
